What it is

Fluids, vitamins and nutrients, straight into the vein

IV therapy is a complementary treatment that delivers fluids, vitamins and nutrients directly into the bloodstream.

Depending on what you need, it may include:

IV therapy: a golden-yellow IV bag hanging from a stand, with the drip chamber
  • Hydration

Fluids to meet specific hydration needs.

  • B-complex vitamins

  • Vitamin C

  • Other nutrients

Chosen for each patient’s individual needs.

The medical team decides what goes in your drip after assessing you.

Our approach

First we assess you, then the treatment

  • Assessment before you start

Before your first session we review your medical history, your medications and why you want it. If it isn’t right for you, we’ll tell you.

  • The contents are decided for you

Vitamins and nutrients are chosen for your needs.

  • Under medical supervision

At our Miami clinic, with the AMAhair medical team.

  • No promises we can’t back up

Its aim is to support your overall wellbeing and meet hydration and nutrition needs. We don’t present it as a cure or a shortcut.

Is it for you?

It may not be for everyone

It may be considered if…

  • You have specific hydration or nutrition needs that the medical team considers can be met intravenously.
  • You’re recovering from a hair transplant and it’s clinically indicated.

Tell us first, because it may not be right for you if…

  • You have kidney disease or have had kidney stones.
  • You have heart failure or have been told to limit fluids.
  • You have G6PD deficiency (it affects vitamin C).
  • You have liver disease.
  • You’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You take diuretics, corticosteroids or other regular medication.
  • You’ve had a reaction to a vitamin or an IV drip.

That’s why the consultation always comes before your first session. Sometimes a blood test may be needed.

Your session day

Sit back, relax and get on with your day

  1. Before IV therapy: a patient talks with a clinician who reviews his information on a tablet

    Before

We check how you’re feeling that day and go over what’s in your drip.

  2. During the IV therapy session: a man reads a book reclining in a clinic chair, with an IV line in his arm

    During

    30-60 min

We place an IV line in your arm and the drip runs slowly while you sit in the clinic. A session takes 30 to 60 minutes.

  3. After IV therapy: hands in black gloves put a bandage on the patient’s arm

    After

We remove the line and you can get back to your day. If anything feels off, just message us.

If you’re having a transplant

Support for your recovery, when indicated

IV therapy after a hair transplant: a man rests in a black leather clinic chair with an IV line in his arm

IV therapy can meet specific hydration and nutrition needs during your recovery, when clinically indicated.

It isn’t required and isn’t part of the transplant. At your consultation we’ll tell you whether it makes sense for you.

See the hair transplant offer.

Straight answers

The questions people actually ask us

What’s in the drip?

It may include hydration, B-complex vitamins, vitamin C and other nutrients. They’re chosen for your needs after we assess you.

Can I choose my own drip?

You can tell us what you’re looking for, but the medical team decides what goes in it after assessing you.

What is it for?

Its aim is to support overall wellbeing and meet specific hydration and nutrition needs, when clinically indicated. It doesn’t replace any medical treatment or a balanced diet.

Does it hurt?

Only the needle prick when the line goes in, like a blood test.

How long does a session take?

30 to 60 minutes.

How often is it done?

It depends on what it’s indicated for. The medical team will tell you at your consultation.

What are the risks?

There may be discomfort, a bruise or irritation where the line goes in and, less often, a reaction to what’s in the drip. That’s why we review your medical history and medications before you start, and every session is medically supervised.

Can I have it if I’m about to have surgery or just had it?

Tell us. It may be indicated during recovery from a transplant, but the medical team makes that call.

Do I need a blood test first?

In some cases, yes. We’ll let you know at your consultation.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. We work with CareCredit: 12 months interest-free, subject to approval.
